FINAL PRESENTATION decisions decisions !!!

So we were given a choice to which of the two projects we wished to use in the making of our final project, It seemed natural initially that i would choose aural terrains. This was a strength for me considering i have experience within the music industry but i chose to instead present the cinematic flaneur, This was a choice i made because i felt more personal growth in the Cinematric Flaneur core area when compared to the Aural Terrains

In the Aural terrains i found that the perspectives where interesting but they were also not very stretching in comparison to the previous stuff i had been forced to work within the area of sound .

On the other hand i felt like i accomplished alot of feat that i was never encountered with previously by taking on cinematic flaneur, I worked endlessly to make solutions to complete different parts of the CAD/Solidworks Design, Afterwhich i was working in the 3d Lab for a week straight learning the finer points of welding and then had to try and make a film from that.

This was an interesting but tiring experience which had stretched me to a limit i hadnt previously done hence why i chose to use it :)

FINAL PRESENTATION

So in my final presaentation i chose to use my cinematic flaneur as my piece to present and from that i also decided that i would change elements of my initial film to try and better the interpretation of its different elements.

In my initial soundtrack for my video i used tracks that included lyrical content and different beat structures that were moulded together using some clever mixing tactics. There was a number of different lyrical elements that referred to word such as "SPIN" FLIP and "REVERSE" that were over shadowed by the beat mixing hence why there was an irrelevant feel to it, On the other hand i feel that the beat in which is applied in this particular video tells two tales of the city.

It has a piano riff which is part of an loop, This loop is continual, this loop gives an idea of class mmixed with slum (due to the effect) ZThen within the same loop is a drum pattern that is stern and grinding(if your understanding the concept.)That indicates the two sides of the city, There is the upper class more classy aristocratic side that exists, But ib its existence it is evident that it is over shadowed my the working class who over run its overall image.

The Visual Runs down the idea that i am the portrayer of the original design of the rubiks as made by our group.Four faces... Each face represented a different location of the city in which we acquired our video footage. From that footage we ae able to understand that at each of the different locations there is the same thing in hindsight, But for each of the four squares resembling the individual color there is the idea that through our invention and the movements which it mkes the same space can be seen in a large variety of different aspects. I struggled to use the video program correctly in a fashion that would allow someone to see the transition taking place but i did as best i could to show the change through color transition.

Overall i am hopeful of the different things i have achieved in the making of this video, The overall cdoncept was cool and with a furthered study into the different elements involved in the video editing side i would be interested in the prospects of this concept

Group Composition

After listening to the results of each of the individual pieces,We fused the different elements of each of our pieces to form a new piece to represent our group, This piece represents a situation that revolves around a submarine that included men that was trapped under the water and eventually everyone was killed. Our sound piece is to be reminiscent of the first man to walk in the haunted vessel after it is lifted to the shore.Inside it includes the fight for the workers to weld drill and perform all last acts of desperation to try and save the vessel.. Then the eeerie bass that calls out the inevitable result that is DOOM

The group Experimental sound piece

As a group myself Eddie and Ron came together to find an adequate way to somehow fuse the ideas which we had planned for the group composition, We realized that the elements of each of our individual pieces were varied and very different in our application of sound. In order to fuse each of our individual sounds together we placed each of the different tracks on seperate channels at the same time . We then changed its frequency to allow each one of them to be represented in our composition

Below is the END result

The Individual Piece

So over the last 2 days i have worked on an experimental sound piece based on the atmospheric environment of the auckland city, In this experimental piece i aimed at shifting the attention of thesound away from the conventional music style too which i am familiar and focus on the non rythmical sounds that surround us on daily basis, Some of which we may not be fully aware of.

The piece in which i composed is based on two distinctly different mannerisms and state of minds. The first i deal with is relaxation ( a feeling of ease and inner satisfaction). I run through a flowing water stream which with its relation to the thought pattern of the human mind inhibits properties of PEACE and TRANQUILITY.

I then show how a build up of little subtle indisgressions can take affect on the sounds that portray uttermost piece and illustrate that just like the human mind is not shielded by thoughts of anger aggresiveness and general loss of control and well being. We allow thes small sound to then become the dominant factor in affecting our thought pattern and it replaces our true self .

This is the case till we release ourself from the issue, have a moment of silence and recompose ourselfs to become the better of the two emotions.

This journey starts with a free spirit a mind of innocent thoughts and basic belief, it the progresses to being influence by an atosphere or surrounding that incases evil in this case but this is signification for CHANGE... This change in this emotional experience turns into torment and self de-meaning sound,Irritation high pitch Panning between channels are ideals that show this principle. Then there is a minor time when the sound breaks that the mind reconfigures its thought pattern and returns to normal :)

Sound Walk in Auckland City

The sound walk was a very different experience for me, in a natural situation the human uses all of its function in its daily interaction with everyday life, this means that all the senses are used to the needs of the tasks we seek to accomplish, Sadly this also means that we sacrifice the probable potential powers of the individual senses that we have, We are unable to know how strong the potential use of senses like hearing, sight, touch and taste can be pushed.

I see the that people with disabilities that impair hearing are able to use there sight with greater significance to understand the happenings in their world, they depend of the furthered pushing of their sight senses to relieve them of the issues that they face.

In the same way the sight impaired are forced to look at their hearing capabilities and maximum potential of its use.The fact that their mind focuses all their energy into this individual facets accounts for the reason to believe that their hearing abilities surpass that of a human not suffering with these impairments

The sound walk to a degree gave us this same chance,To take us away from our normal focus of a shared use of the senses in our daily interaction with the worlds environment, It helped us to refocus and hear with a difference due to the fact that there is a portion of the mind which is shifting energy intentionally to the ear as a major tool of sense...

A worthwhile experience may include proceeding to perform such an aact in different times of the day. This will help irreguate and vary the sound result

I Phone APPS

So in the last month we spent the majority of our time making and configuring the different features and applications of COCOA programming.

As a feature of this work we completed a i Phone Stopwatch . This was a beginning excercise that would help us solidify our knowledge in the course, This came with a climax application that ended with a paint program that we made in conjunction with a weather program..

Good but hard learning

The CREATION PROCESS PART 3

THE RESULT

Well overall i am optimistic about the results in which we achieved in the building process of this Rubiks, Making something so diversly different to the rest of the students was rewarding in the diffrenciation of skills we were able to gain and the different industrial techniques we needed to master.

The cube itself does a good job of being the mould by which the solidworks is based and was defined by the sides of the blue print rather effectively, It made me realise the ease of use of the solidworks program and the translation between computer image and 3d form. This was especially exposed in the solidwork weldment features V.S the amateur welding done by both the fabricator and te assistant fabricator.

The only real regret i have is not having the ease of play due to size and also the nature of an magnetic mechanism as its major form of movement.

CONSTRUCTION 2

This was probably the most essential learning curve that tested our wits but allowed our knowledge of the related technologies to our project to stretch. Due to the slight differentials in the production process the solidwroks had to go through a stage of restructure in order to ensure we had a real draft blue print to work off.

Magnet Problems

We were caught unawares by the property difference between magnets and the steel sheeting which we were using in the construction of our cube, We were forced to seek professional advice for a second time and the specialist at Magnets NZ told us of the property values in the core of the metals, That even if it appeared flush the magnets where being demagnetised by up to 35% and would minimise its power in a way that would make the structure un feasible.

Wood Time

We were then advised that wood was a material the would work with the magnets that were already purchased. So the solidworks was restructured to include the wooden panels and to also take on board the new calculations that needed to be made based on the changes in material(see diary)

CONSTRUCTION ONE (Shopping)

the creation process is ready to take place in the case of the Rubiks Cube. This is a rather ambitious effort as we have been fairly mediocre in our approaches in the BCT sector in alot of ways.

The first issue of the development process is the gathering of supplies. The main resources where given to us after approaching the 3d LAB foar advice on making a smart approach in this project. This lead us to 1 of our two main supplier souces

Magnets NZ

These are the national specialist of magnets in new zealand. Once we understood the fact that probibility was against us in trying to replicate the intricate details included in individual blocks we looked at a different style of mechanism that would be both effective and user friendly. After seeing a youtube video highlighting the use of a rubiks run bymagnets we decided to implement the same option into our assesment.

Matts Sheet Metal

This was the eventual supplier of the 110mmx100mm sheetmetal pieces used in the production of our crubix. We were lucky in the fact that he was able to help us to understand different methods of use in refrence to the metal we were using and the different welding styles useful for a project of our type. A worthwhile conversation...

So its presentation DAY

This was the opportunity for our group to present the concepts and ideas surrounding the building of our Rubik cube. Overall i cant complain and im sure that as the project evolves there will be a lot of chances for evolution.

This concept is a basic concept but the cube holds a lot of meaning. Not only on a visual art perspective but also from society perception. We come to understnd it not only from the viewpoint of Cubism( Liken unto Picasso) but also refer to term used like "Looking beyond the CUBE"... Even Looking outside the Square..

So now to the next frontier, Ensure that the product is finished and move on to the post production stage...

Looking deeper at the cause

As we continue to futher research we started to look at the individually constructed pieces from the rubix design and thinking of ways that we cold look at using that same motion in the structure of our project.

To my suprise the rubix cube aint quite as simple a shape as we first thought although the exterior is simple in design the internal pulleys in its rotary motion is a intricate part of what makes the mystery a fun part of the game play.

in an effort to develop the project and make it in a way that is feasible to the demands of this project a change was considered on the development of the rubix to make it an easier target to aim at...

IN RETROSPECTIVE

I like the concept of play involved in the process of developing our project, Play is a major relationship thought in retrospective to the analysis of the phenom of urban society in the city....

The fact that the rubik cube is a toy (device) that is excepted as an item of enjoyment on a multilevelled class stage(poverty vs. wealthy) is another major factor in trying to catch a variety of aspects in the true reality of city living.. AKA Flaneur

Wednesday, July 28, 2010

Hello RUBIX

well after deliberating over a number of different structure and design plans we have decided to capture the idea of the rubix cube and then implement the needed cameras and the use of the materials that we will get to construct a design that will hopefully facilitate the whole concept of CUBISM . Cubism art is popularly exposed by Picasso giving an almoost 4d reflection of what life is and the process of thought patterns of the mind....

Heres a simplified theory

People have always admired the theory
" Thinking outside the square "

A square is simple... Then you get the square concept and you square it

(in the mathematical sense)

Then a square x square x square = CUBE

Multiple cubes = RUBIX effect......

Round II

Cinematic Flaneur

The Study of cinematic flaneur is based n a theory by Charles Baudelaire which has a specific focused look the the easy concept of strolling through the city. The word flaneur is a derivative of the french verb Flaner.

This derived statement is particularly current in the statement “ a person who walks in the city in order to experience it “ . Because of the developments made by CB the flanuer movement gained significant momentum and its meanings are often considered a reference for understanding Urban phenomenon and modernity.

In approaching this project i hope to highlight the meaning in which CB was trying to potray in his body of work refering to flaneur...

Presntation Day

Well tthis week was presentation week and i was chosen as part of the last group of presentations which i didnt exactly like or dislike. Thats just the way that it was. Well prior to gettin into the presentation i had planned to use some notes and set my presentation up a bit better but the bus i take into town was majorly delayed (35 mins) due to the 7 or 8 Ambulance that were flying by our bus. So to get to Newmarket then sit there for 35 minutes was gutting and majorly put me behind the clock.

As for the presentation i felt like it was good,I tried my best to let them understand the concepts and reasoning behind the things that i did in my assesment. I think im fine at blabbering if you might say. But yeh i hope i portrayed the message well enough to let Charles and Kim understand.

I dont really remember exactly what i said, but i do know that i was confident in what i was saying. Hopefully it was all good :)

One semester down...

Audio file for background of the story

Layered effect setup at emoting a different thought pattern at the edition of different instruments......

Sound to be background for COMIC (BOOK Display)

Music Shapes Life

Music is an interesting facet of any media display, often the role of sound is over shadowed and forgotten when analysing the way in which sound is able to shape and direct media, Sound as a media has so many dimensions that can be explored and many frontiers that are yet to be explored.

Not only are there a variety of notes in music which can be used but there is such a vast variety of instruments and sound that surround our lives not to mention genres and the inclusion of cultural music and their own extended heritage.

If we want to put this into perspective we can take an opportunity to close our eyes in a open field we can begin to recognise some of the sounds that surround us in our daily lives but we don’t really take time to recognise. If we close our eyes and remain still lying in the grass we can hear the environment, Animals, Birds, Trees and so forth, Components of the task of nature, And then with continued concentrating you can become even more dependant and get to the point where you hear your own heartbeat, The sound recognition for the representation of life.
In the project phase the fight is the balanced use of sound and helping it to integrate its properties into a project that isn’t over powering or over bearing, but in its own way sound represents a separate outlet open for the creative mind to continues to express their individual talent.
Music allows the creator to express and emote a extra meaning to any form of media whether it be Paint, Video etc.
In many ways music says what words cant explain

Serious FUN Reflective Statement

Now at the Completion of this task i reflect on the facets of this assessment which i have had growth and the lessons learnt from this task , I am impressed with the work and dedication of my Team mates and our ability to get it all together even when it may seem we were on the back foot, This project has taught me that even though we might initially aim for the sky in our initial concept we need to understand the capabilities of ourselves and our team mates in order to make sure that the final product is not the most extravagant but the most effective. My own task as Sound Designer and Interactive device was one which opened my mind to see the boundaries that are available in today’s technology. Overall this task has been a tool of growth and experience for the better

So where to NEXT !!

So im just about to write yet another reflective statement and i cant help but wonder about where we go next in this little degree, Rather interesting tho the way in which you feel relief from finishing one project and then when its over your hit with another that tests and stretches you just as much...
Ive found this to be a fun and very worthwhile experience, One which i understand and continues to help me in my personal growth...

SO today i found a ghosts ARM!!

Well today in the testing stage of my interactive device i came by a bit of a problem, So this is how the story goes....

Well i have a multi touch sesnsor pad that im using as an interactive device in order to help the reader of our comic book take a look at the book in a way that offers a real experience (i.e click or pull to turn the page.

The tecnology is that there is a webcam lodged under a plastic / glass sheet and then covered by paper, So with the use of the camera special software ( Named Touchlib created by Seth Sandler and the nui group)

from the web cam it picks up a signal based ot the differential in light based on the touch registered by the user, this touch can be used as a mouse to control the screen or other facets or effects..

Something that i didnt know is that the camera we are using as a web cam( The PS3 Eyetoy) has a hidden capability, if it senses a shape in its range for an extended period of time it will then save an imprint of that shape in its background indefinitly until the camera is reset, Hence y i was able to convince the classmates in the room that there is a ghost that lingersaround the light box .....

Good stuff will put vid of sensor box in action below soon

Heads Down thumbs UP

So there comes a point where we have to choose exactly what we are going to aim at as a group. We hope to simplify without compromising the quality of the work, Today i took a look at the work from a critque point of view, placing myself in a position where i want to try and feel something because of the narrative style and the expression exposed by the interaction in assesment

For my self and the welfare of the group ive been rather fortuate to have Tyrone there to offer our group a video camera to incorporate into my interactive device panel, Lets get this moving and work on getting a video out there of the end result

Cheers BIG EARS...LOL

Interactive Lifestyle

So today in our lecture we had representatives of apple come in and talk to us about the apple approach to the innovation of technology, they also tried to predict the direction that the future was going in reference to the use of technology and integrating the human interaction facet of it

I found this very interesting because there approach came from the thought that the i pad aint about what the developer wants but rather the thought that its all about allowing the user to use the system or interface and have their own personal experience with the device and grew there own love for it.

Hoping that with the time we have left on the SERIOUS FUN assesment we can look at an effective way to showcase the experience we want for our user

Serious FUN!!

So weve had our initial brainstorm as a group which i felt went well but then on wednesday we had a catchup session with James in which we were able to become more specific about what we were trying to potray to the audience of our interactive experience.

This session was good as it helped us to become more refined about what we were hoping to achieve from the project and its direct relationship with what is expected from us in this assessment.

Thursday we had a really awesome brainstorm where we nutted out exactly how we want to make our animation work and the different effects we hope to implement to portray a journey and a emotive setting for our now 2 characters.

Now we get into the research and the hands on work......

Thats all for now FOLKS !!

Play-Doh YAY!!!

So alot has come and gone and then again it still lingers, We are currently focused on a project called serious fun, Based on the development of a character that we made in the first section of the core weve been asked to make an artwork with interactive value and present it in front of the class

In part one we were asked to make a clay version of our character and with the innovative use of Qucktime ( In my case Sony Vegas ) We produced a video of our characters in action. This was a fun idea and it was designed to help us look at the emotive side of our charcter creation

Here it is BELOW
Enjoy and stay tuned =)

Later MAX, HELLO Processing

After a rather interesting effort at max we have now moved on to Programming for Creativity, A unit that is sure to stretch my ability as a individual being a rather weak point, ( Barring only my extreme hate for SOLDERING!) But since beginnning it ive found that it aint too bad a programming language and if anything the main issue that surrounds the use of PROCESSING is understanding what you want to do before you actually touch the computer, I found in the first 2 days i would dive into code fresh and hope that i would be able to make an impromptu result based off on the spot decisions

This is alot like max in the way that once you understand the small steps of the process you are trying to achieve then you can focus on making the small steps happen part by part and then at the end look at how those small efforts together formed a greater piece of work beyond the small tasks performed

=)

Thats sounds better than i thought it would ;P

PIEZO OF CAKE =)

Well today i went and searched the use of piezoelectrics. This was a interesting investigation and came about by the fact that i wanted to use a sensor that didnt involve a button so i performed some research on this element.

The piezo is derived from the Greek and means SQUEEZE!

This helps to explain the function of the piezo

The piezo is squeezed and then it senses a trigger that sends a voltage thru to the circuit board

This is used in appliances like lighters and speakers, but more to my interests it is used in electric drumkit as recievers and is also used in the GUITAR HERO drum kits =)

=)

POLYNESIAN TATTOOS

Well today i took a in depth look into the design and attributes of tattoos which are recognised for coming from the Maori, Samoan and Tongan cultures and looking at the diffrences in approach and more so the explanation associated with tattoo design

Ive decided to use a tattoo design on a long sleeve shirt to represent the individual countries. With this i also hope to set up a button setup that will allow the button to be pressed and interact with the max.msp patch to make a video of the corresponding countries war cry.

Lets hope it rolls ON!!!

Design TIME

So over the last 3 days i spent a portion of my time designing and consolidating different designs that will suit the theme of my shirt ( POLYNESIAN CULTURE) I decided to use a long sleeve shirt as the template for my project, The main reason for this is that the long sleeves would act as an arm with different armband patterns for 3 Highlighted cultures located in the PACIFIC, Maori/Samoan/Tongan. these sensors placed on the arm are also there because it is very common for these cultures to hit these locations on their arms when performing traditional war cry dance (HAKA) with the pressing over an armband a corresponding video would show up form that Culture

Human Interaction Device ( I ROBOT)

So we have been given the task to make an human interaction device that is based off a wearable garment (Clothing), Our ability to explain the relationship between the clothing piece, The movement forged by the body and the interaction on the screen will be vital to individual success in this task, At the moment it has been a brainstorming session but im hoping that in this program ill be able to integrate a few of my own personal loves, Music,Dance and Culture.

Animata 2d Design

So this week has introduced us to a new but fun program named animata, Animata has proved a challenge to understand but has opened my eyes in reference to looking at the structure of an mage and its potential perspective movements, Understanding the duty of theskeleton based design in the animata program allow you to move and manipulate 2d images in a almost ( note almost! ) a 3d fashion

Bye Bye ROBOT, Hello MAX

Well today was a interesting day as we were introduced to a new facet of the course with the beginning of Animata and MAX studio, These seem to be very easy to use applications with very simple interfaces, The issue with this program is that you have to be able to see beyond texternal and properly structure the internals in order to give a 3d like effect to 2d objects.

Well good learning and much experimenting to be had as we begin to fimiliarise ourself with the program, On a nasty note i wish some of these programs would take the effort to employ a Ctrl+Z "Undo Button"

But overall we cant complain!

And she stalls !!

Well after a solid week of structure and creation our group was faced with the group demonstration, This was a fun day where people got to see othet groups demonstrations in effect, People where asked to describe the concept of there machine and give a live demonstration of their machine in action, Our machine looked good and people were informed of the operation of its features and the ways in which it related to our concept, Sadly due to us changing the walls on our base adding wrapping paper to the surrounding walls the ultrasonic sensors on the BOT where unable to register the rigid walls and got stuck looking for a flat surface, A great example of how all things changed once the environment in which the machine is going into is changed.

Well on a different note i believe our project wouldve tasted the nicest if i had to eat one! =)

People We Have Art

Today is what we call D-DAY! When all things happen, the make and break time where we place the robots into its environment and make it producete art it is capable of , Happily i can say that our group hs made signifigant advances on where we were last.

So another change came as we needed strengthen certain parts of the robot to allow it to perform its function, Our theme is one based on the City Lifestyle and the Day/Evening comparison. The hustle and bustle of night period with DJ's Night Clubs and Parties VS The morning aftermath, The street sweepers and cleaners going through the city cleaning away rubbish and mess.

Alround a good day for the team with significant advances and hardcover copies of our project.

Heaps Of Ideas, 2 ROBOTS but no icing on the Cake

So we start as per usual with our own individual brainstorming sessions where each of us go and find our own different concepts about the media we use in our project and the way in which we can incorporate it to make the project a success, This is probably the most imaginative part of the process and allowed all types of ideas

Sadly as we came to discover through our development stages there are some ideas that just aint feasible, Whether it be because of structure, finance or just impracticality( Cause we dont understand how to use FIRE without burning the NXT! lol) we found that our imagination required a lot more variables working in our favour to be a success

SO!!!

We built a robot, Broke the robot( Structurally insufficient) Made another solution,Changed our minds, Aimed at programming the robot and then submitted to trying to get a result..lol

The 20 word breakdown of the last 4 Days, But with 2 days in the pocket we understand where we are at and we seem commited and on track to complete the task

YAY :)

Tuesday, March 16, 2010

Things never quite turn out the way you plan !

So as we continue to make a robot suffiicient to perform the duties we require to produce the 3 Drawings required of our group we start to realise that some of the assumptions we made whilst brainstorming for this project aint really feasible based on the availability of certain products and financial restrictions.

Also from this experience we learn that due to our intimate understanding of our ROBOT we can braistorm on the fly, when our initial ideas dont work we are able to resolve the problem by coming up with a different idea that may be able to convey the same idea that was first concieved

This program is also a testament to the value and benefit of setting game plans and daily goals to achieve that progress is achieved as needed.

So the new day brought on a new assignment with new challenges that would test our creativity but also allow us to use our imaginations and innovation of current machines to fufil the task at hand.

So heres a couple of ideas that went through the mind and hopefully as i blog there will be stages of development in this

The Broom effect of the street sweeper

A spinner motion controlled by Ultrasonic Sensor

Glow in the Dark Paint

And many more for you to imagine by yourself

Good brainstorming session today and a complicated portion of our bot being built means we leave ourselves with a stable base to successfully complete this task...

Phase I & II of Lego Life ( The Chucky)

NXT Mindstorm sets have invaded our classroom and given a real understanding of the need to be accurate about the assumptions we make when we construct and predict the project environment

Although we didnt win in either of the Tasks there is alot to be learnt from the precautions that need to be taken in order to ensure that a consistant result is achieved.

Programing a robot is a long process. The variables that can effect your robot are so apparent when it comes time to be assessed. Two particular issues that came to my mind is in mapping a path you must totally understand the terrain the vehicle will travel. Slopes, Slants Carpet, Floors Doors etc. Also a particular issue that we had is showing the character created( Chucky) identity through construction, movement and design.

With alot of the auora of our character being focused on his personality trait as a two faced alter ego it was hard to depict this through a robot and show an emotional deficiency

But the learning gained in this team exercise adds substance to the knowledge bank for future projects

Stay Tuned Guys !!! :)

What The heck are thes guys up to !!

Reflective Statement
Chad Maihi

The situational shuffle experience allows student to understand the potential problems that can arise when approaching a project which has a number of variants caused by public involvement (unpredictable matter). Dealing with human environment means you enter a domain that is structured on rules. Performing this task placed individual members of our group in precarious positions (A standing that could be considered as anti-social cause it does not adhere to common law)
Another issue to be considered is the personal pride and status. Placing yourself in a situation you would not ordinarily associate yourself with is an uncomfortable experience. An opportunity for risk and great learning.
The key issue I found was not the way the group interacted in the city environment but rather how the public would articulate or re-act to our actions, People are behavioural creatures who live by habit, To see something taking place that collides with common practice is either considered anti-social or Innovation

Wednesday, March 3, 2010

So all Things have to start SOMEWHERE.

Welcome to BCT 2010 came with a collection of mini post-it stickers, a yarn of cotton and a orgasmic of responses as introductory relations building exercises where the call of the day. Writing the answers to 12 specific questions each student made a web like figure around their name with the answers to the questions written on the post it notes (Some webs more creative than others) then to add to the mess (hahaha) all answers that where identical where then connected together with a string of an different colour.

This exercise not only allowed members of the class to begin a social grounding with each other but it also taught a valuable lesson about the structure of people as individuals, Each person has their own personal preference, this preference determine their interest which in turn indicates their prefered ground for creativity.
